The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters – an interview with the author Sherri Lynn Wood

We’ve defined what Modern Quilting is so now how would you like to learn how to do improv quilts and to expand your quilt making skills?!  * you know it makes me chuckle that the only time I had ever heard the word Improv previously was in comedy, and I certainly know what those shows are and how much more relaxed and fun they appear”.

Typically what comes to mind are the quilts of the Gee’s Bend Quiltmakers. These wonderful woman, out of necessity,  made quilts from what ever materials they had on hand. And they Improvised!!! ” Quiltmakers there have produced countless patchwork masterpieces beginning as far back as the mid-nineteenth century, with the oldest existing examples dating from the 1920s. ”

Sherri Lynn Wood gives quite the interview with Beth from SewMamaSew about her love of quilting with reflections and predictions with sewing industry leaders.  It’s a wonderful read if you want to expand your quilting skills.
