You wanted it…. you’ve been waiting for it……. and now you will receive it.
Dorothy Holdenmeyer will be teaching Free-Motion-Quilting on a Domestic sewing machine at our next Sew-In. We will have a mini workshop from 10-12 with chances to practice and observe Dorothy’s work on her domestic machine.
Bring along a quilt sandwich ( no silly not the kind you eat for potluck lunch ! ) two fat quarters sandwiched between batting would be awesome. Also you will need contrasting thread to your fabric, your sewing machine, your darning foot ( Free Motion Foot ), and an extension cord. After our potluck lunch we will be working on our own projects so don’t forget to bring that along also!
Dorothy has had her quilt of the Toronto Skyline selected for Quilt Canada 2016 Juried show, also does art quilts and has quite the resume of quilting experience. This will be a great chance to experience Free Motion quilting at it’s finest!
Some of our members own Accuquilt and a few of them will be bringing them to the Sew-In also. I think it’s going to be a very full day at our Sew-In and I have a feeling we are going to have some weary, excited and knowledgeable quilters by 4 pm in the afternoon
Come prepared to have fun and take home some great experience. Please bring along plates/silverware, your food and your own beverage for the potluck lunch.
Just a reminder also that we are still having our regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday April 14th at Bethany Church at 7 pm. We will have a demonstration of Accuquilts from Michelle Denham from Kindred Spirits. The things you are do with these are amazing and lessen the work required to cut out quilt pieces. ” The AccuQuilt GO! Fabric Cutter is a fast, precise, affordable fabric cutting system that allows quilters to cut fabric as much as 90% faster than scissors or rotary cutting.”
*** at this time our Sew-Ins are members only, however that may change at some point*
Guests are always welcome at our regular scheduled meeting for a $5 guest fee.
