Quilting Kindness Sew Day

February

March

I have been a creative person my entire life.  I dabbled in many crafts in my younger years.  My mom taught me to sew when I was 7 and I sewed my wardrobe throughout high school and beyond.  I started working with Northcott in 1986 and was there for 38 years.  I began quilting in 1987 when Northcott made the transition from fashion to quilting fabric and I quickly became hooked.  I have been designing quilts for Northcott and for numerous quilting magazines since 1995.  I was a regular contributor to The Quilter magazine, Love of Quilting and Easy Quilts and continue to contribute to the Golden Peak Media group of publications including McCall’s Quilting and Quiltmaker.  Several of these projects have been cover quilts and best-sellers. In 2008 I started publishing my comprehensive line of quilt patterns that utilize efficient and time-saving techniques.  I specialize in designing quilts using panels and border stripes.

I design fabric as well.  My first collection, Vino, designed for Northcott’s Banyan Batiks division, shipped to quilt shops in November 2019 and my second collection, Canoe Lake, arrived September 2021.  I also designed the Color Play collection for Northcott in the Fall of 2022.

I particularly enjoy teaching quilting.  My evolving selection of popular project- and technique-based workshops has garnered return bookings at guilds and quilting conferences across North America.  What a thrill it is for me to see a student take what they have learned in class and push it to the next level!

I live in southern Ontario and enjoy all 4 glorious seasons that this area offers.  I am married to a very patient and understanding husband and have 2 wonderful grown sons.  In my spare time, Hubby and I enjoy travelling, cycling, golfing, snowboarding, cooking and wine-tasting.

Brandon Wulff is an accomplished and talented artist who has found success in both quilting and life coaching. He is an Autistic individual who grew up in a fiber-focused family in London, Ontario, Canada, which provided him with a solid foundation for his future endeavors. With a background in hair styling, Brandon later pursued a career as a life coach and researcher before discovering his true passion for quilting.

His sister Michaelanne, owner of Stache Fabric and Notions, was the one who sparked his interest in quilting. She inspired him to start quilting when she opened her store and he wanted to support her. He soon discovered that he had a natural talent for the craft and his skills flourished.

Brandon's talent and passion for quilting have not gone unnoticed. He has been featured in two well-known publications in the industry, House and Home magazine and Canadian Quilter, and has also been mentioned on the Maralyn Dennis show. He works with interior designers and decorators to create one-of-a-kind pieces that add beauty and style to stunning homes.

In addition to his skills as a quilter, Brandon is also a life coach. He is dedicated to helping people live their best lives and finds great fulfillment in assisting others to achieve their goals and reach their full potential. He is an advocate for the importance of self-improvement and encourages others to pursue their passions and reach for the stars.

Brandon's commitment to both quilting and life coaching has made him a sought-after figure in the industry. He offers on-demand classes in non-continuous ruler work and his Biscotti process, and takes his trunk show on the road, offering it to Biscotti guilds via Zoom.

If you're looking for inspiration and guidance in either quilting or life, Brandon Wulff is the perfect person to turn to. With his hard work, dedication, and passion for his crafts, he is a true Renaissance man and a shining example of what can be achieved with determination and perseverance.

Singapore, Java and Bali Textiles and Dyeing a Textile Tour.
Jo- Anne shares her journey from last fall seeing how textiles have been made and how they are still being made today. A rich history of creating fabrics that are used in our hobbies and creations today.

I design modern quilt patterns that look impressive but are surprisingly easy to make. With a nod to tradition and a love for bold color, my goal is to help quilters feel confident, creative, and proud of what they make—whether you’re working from a tidy stash or diving into a mountain of scraps. Let’s make something beautiful, without over complicating the fun.

These are the only bios I have collected so far for 2026. In January, I'll talk with Jo, Anastasia and Dee and see what they are calling their trunk shows.

July

I cut fabrics and then I sew it back together.

I started quilting back in 2013, a year marked by personal and professional changes, and grief. My journey into the quilting world has been self-taught and improvisational, which would later translate in my creative process base on improvisation.

Grounded in the roots of the origins of quilting and because of environmental concerns, my quilts are all made of up-cycled fabrics (bed sheets, shirts, pillowcases, scraps, tablecloths,…) and upcycled batting (flannel sheets, blankets,..).

Making new with the old.

Quilting is a work of love and connection, that reaches deep into my soul. Connecting fabrics together, connecting with the heritage of the past, connecting in the moment, connecting to the intangible.

Even thought each project have their own quest, a common thread throughout my work is the desire to conceive what exists beyond our senses. My goal is to translate the immaterial in this very visual and touchable object. To me, that is the essence of abstract art. The universe in its broadness or its infinitely small state, the “what is beyond'?”, the question of time, those are all paradigms that I attempt to pull from.

Think science fiction but in quilts. Made with old pillowcases.

The language and poetry of colors an shapes are my music. Improvisation is where I compose. There I find a sense of freedom and joy that allows me to explore my own creativity.

And play, simply play. Because it is not that serious.

It is only fabrics, and the exploration of my deepest self.

By day I am also a palliative care physician. Which might explain the life and death focus that reflects in so many of my quilts.
